Tips for styling an autumn table

Every season has its charm, but for me there is something particularly special about autumn. Nature has so much to offer in terms of colour and texture, so it’s lovely to bring a little of this into my home – especially as it’s the time in the year when I start to notice I’m turning my focus indoors. After a long walk, I love lighting the fire at home and sharing nourishing, comforting food with family and friends.

It’s nice to add a sense of occasion to mealtimes, so I thought I would share a few of my tips for styling an autumnal table. You can shop the full edit by clicking here.

  1. Add texture and interest to the table with natural elements such as bright gourds, foraged branches, leaves or conkers. Go for a walk and see what you can find outside.

2. Bring in accents of colour with glassware and crockery. Here, the purple of the glasses is mirrored in the hydrangeas – and the foraged autumn leaves. I also love the graphic stripe detail on these linen napkins that complements the dark clay plates.

3. Play with height on the table by adding candlesticks, lanterns or taller vases – just make sure you’re not blocking your guests from seeing one another.
