To help you prepare for Christmas Day, Château Léoube’s head wine maker Romaine Ott has put together some suggestions on the best organic wines to drink on Christmas Day:
“For a pre lunch drink, nothing beats our Sparkling wine. Made with 100% Cabernet Franc, this extra dry Sparkling is full of lively thin bubbles, with notes of red fruits, white flower and a brioche finish.
To match a fish or seafood starter, try our 2014 dry white wine. Made from a unique blend of Semillon, Vermentino and Ugni Blanc, this crisp white wine is super elegant and full of white fruit aromas.
We have two good matches for turkey: The first is our award winning Secret de Léoube rosé, which is made from old vines of Grenache, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and goes very well with white meat.
If you prefer something more traditional, try our Forts de Léoube, which has been aged for 12 months in large oak casks to create a very smooth finish.
Christmas pudding and cheese would be perfectly complemented by our limited edition Super Provence Rouge Collector. After 10 years of trials, we have now released this 2011 vintage made from Cabernet Franc. Gently fragrant on the nose, it shows more expression on the palate where the flavours of blackberry and black plum are underpinned by attractive tobacco notes.”
