Bee Keeping

Come and join us at the farm on 2nd April for an introduction on bees – our most vital pollinators. Guided by Cotswolds Bees Limited we will delve into the hive, look at a living colony and explore the behaviour and ecology of this super-organism.

Bees play such an important role to food production as providers of honey, but more importantly, as pollinators of so many of our crops.

We are highly dependent on them, however, honey bees have also become dependent on us to look after them, as we rock their wild existence.

Come on this course to discover more about the fantastic honey bee and what can be done to help them – with or without your own hive.

Bee Keeping

Bee suits will be provided. Please bring a pair of washing-up gloves and either wellies or other rubber boots. Make sure you wear full length trousers and be prepared to get a little grubby, as beehives tend to be a little sticky. Please do not wear strong perfumes, deodorants or use any strongly scented soaps as these tend to confuse the bees.
