Returning from India put me in mind of the amazing architect Anupama Kundoo’s. Her architecture practice began in 1990 with a strong focus on design and material research. She is keen to develop and experiment with building techniques that in some way help to reduce the environmental impact or are socio-economically beneficial. One example of this is her building technique that allowed terracotta pots to be used as a material to create self supporting roofs. The terracotta pot not only acts as an insulator for the building, it is an object that can be easily created from local materials and quickly assembled by local tradesmen.
